HP recently released a newsletter in which they discouraged businesses from using remanufactured toner. In the letter, they posed several issues with after-market toner that could potentially cost businesses more money than they save. While I believe their disposition may be motivated more by their own bottom line than their customers’, speaking as an after-market toner manufacturer, they raise some good points that consumers should be aware of when purchasing remanufactured printer supplies. For the most part, many of HP’s claims are nothing more than myths that printer manufacturers are eager to keep alive. Over the next couple weeks, we will shed some light on each of their claims and offer an alternative perspective busting these myths. Let the games begin!
Myth #1: Using remanufactured toner is not very reliable and may harm your printer.
You would think we would raise a big stink over this one. I mean, how dare they assert remanufactured toner cartridges are not as reliable?! However, in many cases, they are right. Not all remanufactured toner cartridges are created equal as many after-market manufacturers produce sub-par products that are not as good as the originals. An overwhelming majority of bargain toner companies care very little about the reliability of their products giving legitimate manufacturers like us a bad name. Between leaking toner, light print and broken components, consumers will spend more on printer service and downtime than they saved on purchasing generic toner. That is why it is important to find a reputable, branded after-market manufacturer like Print.Save.Repeat. With the proper manufacturing prowess, it is entirely possible to make a remanufactured toner cartridge that is just as reliable as the one made by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Just ask one of our thousands of happy customers!
